Raw deal again for our military?

P & O have just announced that they are changing the rules on how you can apply for military benefits. In the past any past or current members of the military can just tell the travel agent at the time of booking and then we just call P & O to get it applied. Once on board they may then be asked for proof such as an ID Card or Discharge Papers. Now they are asking that you apply for a Defence Privilege Card membership that costs £4.99 and lasts for 5 years. In order to get the on board credit those currently serving in the HM Armed Forces and former Veterans will need to quote their Defence Privilege Card before any on board credit is applied to their account. The Defence Privilege Card does give you discounts off a whole host of services however why change something that already works. I wonder how long it will be before other lines follow suit. If you are in the military than in order to apply for this card click here – https://www.defencediscountservice.co.uk/newuser.php And just so you know what you will get with P & O here are the terms and conditions: If you book a P&O Cruises Select Fare cruise the first two guests on each booking receive on board spending money, the amount of which depends on the length of the cruise and which cabin type is booked. Please note that the amounts below are per qualifying guest.

Nights Oceanview/Inside Amount Per PAX Balcony Amount Per PAX Suites Amount Per PAX
2-6 nights £10.00 £15.00 £20.00
7-13 nights £20.00 £30.00 £40.00
14-21 nights £50.00 £65.00 £75.00
22+ nights £75.00 £90.00 £100.00

Please note this applies to Select Price Bookings Only What do you all think? Should we be asking our military to pay for this when they have already sacrificed so much?
