Military Benefits – Are you getting yours?

Did you know with P & O, Cunard and Princess Cruises you can get on board spending money which is known as a Military Benefit.

Its available to the following:

Current serving personnel

Veterans

Reservists

MOD Civil servants

NATO personnel in the UK

for the following service divisions:

British Army

Royal Navy

Royal Air Force

Reserves

Royal Marines

Merchant Navy

Home Guard

Its not combinable however with certain fares and a good travel agent would be able to advise you of this.

P & O Cruises Procedure

As of the 1st March 2018 Military Benefits can only be applied to a booking if you are registered with Defence Discount Service and have a Defence Privilege Card.

This offer is available to Military guests who are members of the Defence Discount Service (the official MOD discount scheme) and have a Defence Privilege Card. This is a paid for membership, the cost for which is £4.99 for 5 years membership. The offer is available to those that are currently serving in the HM Armed Forces and those that have previously served within the HM Armed Forces. Guests will need to quote their Defence Privilege Card membership number for the Military Onboard Credit to be added to their booking.

In order to apply the Military Benefits you would need to supply your Defence Privilege Card Number to your travel agent, either at the time of booking, or no later than 7 days before departure, along with the promotion code MLT. This will then be noted on your booking. You may also be asked to present your card at the check-in desk on the day of embarkation, so please make sure you have this with you when travelling.

The amount of on board spending money is applicable for the 1st and 2nd passengers in a cabin only and depends on the grade of cabin booked and the duration of the cruise:

2-6         £10         £15                         £20

7-13       £20         £30                         £40

14-21     £50         £65                         £75

22+         £75         £90                         £100

Please note the latest this benefit can be applied is 7 days before departure and it is not possible to apply the Military benefit once you are on board.

Cunard Line Procedure

The amount of on board spending money per person, is applicable for the 1st and 2nd passengers only and depends on the duration of the cruise:

Nights                                                                   On board spending money

2-6 nights                                                            US$25 per person

7-13 nights                                                          US$50 per person

14-21 nights                                                       US$125 per person

22 nights+(including world cruise)                 US$200 per person

Please note the latest this benefit can be applied is 7 days before departure and it is not possible to apply the Military benefit once you are on board.

Princess Cruises Procedure

In order to request this benefit you have to submit a form together with the required proof of eligibility.

The amount of on board spending money per person, is applicable for the 1st and 2nd passengers only and depends on the duration of the cruise:

Nights                                                                  On board spending money

6 days or less                                                     US$50 per person

7-13 nights                                                          US$100 per person

14 days or longer                                             US$250 per person

So make sure if you are serving or ex-military that you get the benefits that you deserve.
