Cabins:
This cabin we have had before and was excellent.
Eventually boarded Viking Sea in New York after transfer from the airport in awful traffic. Been on this ship when it first sailed into the "Midnight Sun" in May 2016. That cruise was spectacular, the ship, the crew, the food, the entertainment. This time it was the "West Indies" cruise. Not so spectacular. No one at the start to meet us at the airport, when he eventually came was not polite - not at all like the usual Viking greeting. Our cabin was spotless and the two stewards jermaine and Vi were brilliant. The food on this ship was mouthwatering in all the normal restaurants. A Brunch with all the Seafood was amazing. The Chefs Table was a treat with their Asian theme but we found Manfredis the Italian restaurant which we loved on our first trip, was not up to that standard, the waiters were not efficient and seemed unable to wait at a table but quite happy to clear away tables and leave customers sitting.I did notice that on the Midnight Sun cruise, as I have a walking problem, when in the "Cafe" restaurant which is self service, then I was always offered help in carrying a plate, this time only twice on the whole cruise was I approached and the offer made. The entertainment was very good, but I think the trio which played in the Atrium a lot of the time were very dreary in their choice of music. The entertainments director and his assistant kept us all on our toes with a Trivia Quiz on sea days and other events. Would like to have seen demonstrations of art/craft etc. which have seen on previous cruises, just to fill in the sea day times. The islands visited were interesting, but on some we were the first ship of their season and some of the excursions didn't go quite to plan with the plantation train breaking down and the tour bus sort of catching alight. But all these things sort themselves out eventually. The islands need our cruises as they are still trying to get straight after the last hurricane which you can see left a lot of damage.Have to say thanks to Viking for their help when disembarking, luggage to airport and the Viking staff there to advise, most appreciated. Although a few hiccups we still love the Viking Cruises and are counting the days until our next trip, so thank you Viking for another great cruise.
