The best cabin I have ever had on a river cruise with all high class facilities, verandah with chairs and table plus a TV screen.
Just returned from a Titan/Uniworld cruise on the Rhine from Basle to Amsterdam on the luxurious two year old ship SS Antoinette.Titan had arranged a home pick up and hotel at Heathrow prior to flying to Zurich and two nights at the historic Wilden Mann Hotel at Luzern.A walking tour was included and a half day coach,steamer/mountain cog railway up Rigi and cable car down to Weggis.Despite the variable weather this was very much enjoyed in the capable hands of the tour manager Helen. We started the Castles of the Rhine cruise at Basle and with visits each day starting at Kaysersberg, birthplace of Albert Schweizer and followed by Strasbourg with a canal cruise,Speyerwith visits to the Cathedral and Jews Museum,Rudesheim with a visit to Vollrads Castle for wine tasting,Boppard and walking tour,Koblenz with a cable ride up to the Ehrenbreitstein Fortress and Cologne with walking tour and Cathedral visit. All the arrangements made were superb and the guides excellent. The Antoinette is one of the best river ships I have sailed on I have been with Viking on the Danube and twice with Uniworld exploring the Douro and Rhone rivers.Hildegard the tour manager was excellent as were the smart, spacious cabins (I had Category 1 for single occupancy),wonderful food and the best river cruise staff I have ever had:always polite, smiling and courteous.Despite the cool weather sailing past the Loreley and the castles we had a hot chocolate brought to the open deck and rugs as well. The ship was clean, attractive and nothing was too much for this top class crew and friendly captain, hotel manager, cruise manager, chef and restaurant manager.Entertainment was limited but what there was proved to be most enjoyable and coupled with numerous receptions during the week and free wine with meals-this was a fine holiday to be savoured.I even tried riding a bicycle and enjoyed the indoor pool and spa. I would most certainly recommend Uniworld and see the difference with the other companies.I have already booked for the River Po cruise with Uniworld next April and cannot wait for another river cruise experience with this luxury line.
