Up the rhine down the danube
Had a long bus journey to nijmegen to pick the switzerland 2 up then spent 14 days on cruising the rivers and ending up in budapest. Generally the weather was just about ok except for 2 rainy days in bratislava and vienna. Cologne well worth the visit to all the sites to see. Koblenz where the rhine meets the moselle as cologne the city of koblenz are very similar, rhudesheim next through the rhine gorge and the lorelei rock very small but interesting town then onto the big city of frankfurt much the same as other german cities then onto nuremburg sailing through the lovely places of wertheim, wurzburg, bamberg al well worth visiting after nuremburg you sail along the danube to regensburg one of germanys oldest towns then onto passau where 3 rivers meet the inn and liz then onto vienna stopping off at melk where you see a benadictine abbey full of riches and steeped in history a must visit. It rained hard in the city of vienna but it did not stop us from a walking tour of the centre strange to see the spanish lipiszanas horses there. Bratislava next bit austere but go to the castle which overlooks the danube. Arrived at about 10pm in budapest with it all lit up what a sight pick up a guide book before you go so you can identify all the buildings or go on a guided tour.
