Cruise Reviews
river Cruise line Danube to Vienna & Budapest
We paid top price for a "Panorama" deck cabin, on board MS Serenity. If we had chosen the cheapest option we could have saved £300 per person. At every place bar two we were berthed against another boat so that we had no view at all. Our first stop was at Melk, we had a view here but we went on an excursion, by the time we got back to the boat it was time to leave Melk. Next day we were in Vienna where we had a boat alongside us, to make matters worse our cabin was along side the kitchen of the other boat and the smells from their extractors was horrible, so we couldn't even have the outer door open or the curtains open ,it was like being in a box. Next morning we arrived in Budapest, now we were in a stack of three boats with us in the middle, our cabin overlooked someone's bedroom, so again no open door or curtains (back in the box) We were in Budapest for 2 days all this time between two boats. The following day we were in Bratislava, again our view was blocked by a boat alongside (back in the box). Next day we were in Durnstein(Krems) for four hours, where we could actually look out of our window, unfortunately we were off the boat for the whole 4 hours.. Finally we set sail in the afternoon back to Passau, WHAT A RELIEF WE COULD AT LAST OPEN OUR DOOR AND CURTAINS, nice panoramic views at last, albeit of the tree. We wrote and complained to the River Cruise line and asked for compensation for the loss of "panoramic " views. their response was that it is beyond their control, and were sorry that the views from our cabin did not meet our expectations, but they feel that on this occasion they provided the trip we had booked.and all aspects of the trip were provided in compliance with their booking conditions so SURPRISE SURPRISE no compensation. needless to say we will not be travelling with them again
