We decided to try a cruise on Royal Caribbean, our ship was the Voyager off the Seas. Embarking the ship went very smoothly & we were looking forward to a better class of cruise than our previous one, a cheapy Marella cruise. Unfortunately Voyager is an older ship in need of updating, we had to call an engineer out 3 times to try to fix the Airconditioning, it never was fixed, they could only set it at one temperature. The cabin crew did not pay attention to the normal things expected, when we got into our cabin we had no tissues, no coffee only tea & no complimentary toiletries. There seemed to be no systems in place when cabins were serviced. The biggest shock for us was that after 9.30pm there was no food available other than a tiny cafe bar which had to serve all passengers. The food in the Windjammer was very mediocre, for example the majority of cakes available were just cut up pieces of tray bakes and very oddly there was one hot pudding each night, it was the same, bread pudding no other choices. We dined in the main dining room the 1st night, the service was so poor we sat down at 7pm and didn't manage to leave until 9.45pm, this meant that we had to miss the entertainment that night, everyone was complaining. We did not eat in the main dining room again, we ate in the Windjammer buffet thereafter. The entertainment was not good either, shows were very poor except for the ice skating show which was excellent. We were also disappointed with the activities put on throughout the day. I don't think we will go on Royal Caribbean again when lesser status cruise lines provide much better value, entertainment & customer service.
