Robbery of the Seas!!
As an avid cruiser we try to go away 2 -3 times per year work permitting. I decided on New Zealand and booked a grand suite this time with Royal Caribbean on Radiance of the Seas we booked a year in advance for the trip. When we got to the embarkation there was a luggage drop off point and a large que we had received an email from our concierge Ricardo of what we would be entitled to with having a grand suite one of those is priority boarding we asked the ground crew outside where the suites guest where to board and he took us through if we would not have asked we would have been queuing with everyone else there was no signs in this location for suite guests the signs where quite some distance away and we would have queued for at least an hour if not more. Once on board we where in the foyer and they where selling all their packages for drinks and dining, we bought our drinks but not the dining package because as suite guests we where entitled to have either breakfast in the concierge club, Giovanni's, Cascades main dining room or the Windjammer buffet and on sea days of which there where 4 on this particular cruise Lunch was to be served in a specialty restaurant as per the Royal Caribbean website. Our cabin 1060 was spacious and clean but our balcony was filthy and the previous guests had cut their toe nails and there where a huge amount so it looked like they had clipped 2-3 peoples nails and scattered them around the balcony dining area. The room had no welcoming fruit at the time of boarding but came later in the early evening. We also asked where as suite guests we could eat lunch we where told there was only the Windjammer Buffet which was filled to overflowing and looked more like a rugby scrum everyone jostling we where not told the correct thing that on embarkation we where to have lunch in the main dining room or if we wished to eat in the Windjammer Buffet the Izumi restaurant would be open to suite and pinnacle guests to eat in peace we found this out after days as our concierge Ricardo never had a one on one meeting with us to discuss what and where we where entitled to eat and was not available to us until 4.30pm on embarkation day he also did not know that we as per Royal Caribbean website where supposed to eat lunch on sea days in one of the specialty restaurants as per their website there where several meetings with the food and beverage manager and guest relations as to what they would do to fix the problem not once did they make the first move it was always us onto what we should have been given as we had paid the premium for it. we did in the very end on the last day after not getting what we paid for supplied by Royal Caribbean get a small credit for a future cruise so buyer beware Royal Caribbean websites are bait advertising as they do not provide you with what you pay for and they most certainly need to train their concierges to do a better job with their clients. NCL are fantastic and most definitely on the ball with lots of goodies for suite guests so I suggest to everyone reading this to look further afield and before booking email and ask for a list of what is included.
