Blue, but not in a bad way
We went on the Freedom of the Seas back in 2016 for our honeymoon and must say we were not disappointed. We spent a few days in Orlando prior to the cruise and found a great excursion to see manatees, which we managed to fit in around Universal studios, although Orlando itself is a bit strange. It seems to be a purpose built town to fit around the resorts. On the ship itself the weather wasn't the best and had some amazing storms, especially in Haiti when the heavens opened as we were walking towards the main centre. In general really enjoyed the places we visited but we were disappointed with Haiti, not the place or the beach and bar staff but with the way they tried to rip you off in the stalls. The started carving based on you arriving at the stall and as we were nave we stopped to watch. They then made you feel guilty for not buying and then charged you a fortune when you did decide to buy, refusing to haggle from their exceptionally expensive starting point. Buyer beware is all I can say. This was more than made up for by Grand Cayman, Mexico and Jamaica. Great excursions, and friendly people. Food wise, it couldnt be faulted. We ate at Chops Grille a number of times as I got my blue steak so blue that it was almost still mooing. Just how I like it. The other restaurants were great as well. The only downside was all the good time slots tended to get booked up early on Anytime Dining. And I heartily recommend paying for the drinks package. I am not sure if we had our moneys worth but it made it so much easier knowing what the bill was going to be and not ending up with a nasty surprise at the end.
