I had an outside cabin which was more than adequate for a week.
Earlier this year we took a cruise on Empress of the Seas, boarding in Miami and then visiting Key West, Roatan, Belize and finally Cozumel. The cruise was for a week and the ports of call were nicely spaced out. My personal favourite was Key West and we had plenty of time ashore to get a real taster of what Key West was like.
Roatan and Belize were ok, nothing special really, Cozumel was great, plenty of taxis at the port to take you around the island with plenty on offer.
The ship itself is the smallest in Royal Caribbeans fleet but is just as good as the others that i have been on (3 so far), many of the same facilities as the larger ones but on a smaller scale. The theatre was offering the usual fare, the highlights were the two comedians, each did a family show then an adult version later. The food in the restaurant was as good as any other ship, the service was as always superb. The staff were always anticipating our needs, drinks came as we needed them and the food was always hot.
The entertainment staff were the best on any cruise I’ve been on before, Steve who was in charge was excellent and so were the rest of his team, Andy in charge of the bingo was superb. We also managed a few visits to the casino, plenty of slots as well as roulette and card games.
My only negative was the constant pushing of the speciality restaurants, there were staff who spent all day and night trying to get bookings, you’d just say no to one, then another would turn up, all in all just a bit too much.
All in all a great cruise which I would love to do again in the future.
