Surprise of a lifetime
My son and daughter had told me they had planned a surprise for my birthday. I was looking forward to a wee break in the sun. Never in my wildest dreams did I ever imagine it would be a cruise. The big day came and we left for Glasgow Airport, with me still not sure of where we were going. Off we took and flew to Heathrow. After an overnight stay at the hotel, we returned to the airport and boarded for Miami. Only then did it twig that was where we would embark the ship. I could not contain my excitement, this kind of dream should not be mine, but it was. On arriving at Miami, we were taken by coach to the port. On arrival at the port, there she was, The Caribbean Princess. Oh my god, I had never seen anything so awesome in my life. Reality and television don't even come close. I had the most amazing two weeks sailing round the Caribbean, seeing places that I'd only seen on the TV. The balcony room was perfect, being able to watch as this fabulous ship docked at these most gorgeous islands. The food was amazing, the service fabulous, the entertainment, there is nothing I could find fault with. I shed a more than a few years leaving the ship. I will never forget how special it was and keep hoping that I may get to do it again. I have wanted to cruise again so many times but circumstances were not in my favour. I've always wanted to visit Alaska and the Northern lights, but always been out of my budget. Maybe one day hopefully in the not too distant future, I can realise another dream and see other beautiful parts of the world that cruising allows you to do.
