Strictly Fabulous, Britannia 7-20 April 2019

Reviewed By: on
Fab-u-lous! What an exciting way to experience all the glitz and glamour of Strictly. There were fantastic evening performances from the Strictly stars, including Gorka, Giovanni, Luba, Karen, Trent, Gordanna, Amy and Ben. There were also masterclasses in dancing from all the performers and Karen Hardy, too. It was also great to be up close and personal with the stars, and to listen to their question and answer sessions about their lives. There were also two gorgeous Strictly fashion shows. Also, the actual costumes from the shows were on display all around the stunning atrium of the ship. Wonderful to be able to see close up all the sequins and chiffon etc. The only drawback was, due to the popularity of the masterclasses, they were completely mobbed and it was too dangerous and uncomfortable to try and take part. Some of the instructors realised this and tried to split the classes, so only half were on the dancefloor. This method should have been used throughout. Britannia is showing some wear and tear, but is still a great ship. Her drawbacks are still the lack of stairs midship, which puts more pressure on the lifts. Also, there is piped music everywhere, which was too loud and intrusive. There should be some areas where the music does not interfere. The food was excellent in the main restaurants and the buffet, and the entertainment in the day and evening was varied and great quality. This included talks on Britain in WW2, films, various art, jewellery, craft, quizzes and deck sport events. There was a choir to join, and a good gym although it needed more upright cycles! The ports were interesting, and tours were offered in each of them from the ship or you could do your own exploration. Overall a great cruise. I would have rebooked on board but have noticed how the prices have increased dramatically (now that the tips have been removed from future cruises)!!
