We would never ever have considered MSC for a cruise had it not been for the affordability for our son and family who were cruising for the first time. We helped make the cruise possible by taking our four year old grandson in our outside cabin leaving our son and family to occupy two outside but obstructed view cabins on the deck below. We all embarked in Venice with little or no trouble. Indeed, we were shown to the front of a lengthy queue at check in when MSC staff spotted we had a youngster. All cabins were available from 1400 and our luggage was already inside when we arrived on deck 8. Cabin was a good size with a pull down bed for our grandson and there was adequate stowage for the three of us. The cabin was spotless and well maintained throughout the cruise, the only down side being the very small shower and dreaded shower curtain. As a family we found that the  kids clubs were excellent with a wide ranging programme of activities and the splash pool up top beside the pool was fabulous for children and adults alike. We all enjoyed the food onboard which we considered much better than P&O with whom we sailed in April on Ventura. Restaurant menus were varied and choice excellent. We also considered the buffet to being amongst the best we have ever experienced as it was not the normal scrum. Pizza and burger outlets were very well attended and probably saved the buffet from being overcrowded. Embarkation and disembarkation in all ports was well handled and stress free. Although we didn’t personally attend any shows, we were reliably informed by those in the family that did that it was very good. Unusually we had the drinks package which turned out to be good value looking at the prices we would have paid onboard. As our favourite cruise lines are Azamara and Oceania, we were not looking forward to the MSC experience although we were looking forward to cruising with the family. How wrong were we. MSC provide a lively experience, good service, good food and all at a great price. We may even use them again.
