MSC - Won’t be using this line again
We chose to take a MSC cruise around the Caribbean on MSC Preziosa. The flight with Virgin was chartered and we were not be able to tobook our seats in advance or check in online. We arrived at twilight checkin at 4.45 at Gatwick to ascertain the best seats only to find these had been assigned already. The flight was good and we arrived in Barbados and got off the flight and was taken to a coach for transfer to the ship. We did not go into the terminal at all and our cases were taken directly to the ship. The ship was empty as we had joined a cruise at this port. We went up to the buffet which was empty. Eventually managed to find something. Cabins were ok and cabin attendant very helpful as the air con was not working. He arranged a repair. We explored the ship and found it slightly confusing, if we wanted to go to floor 15 we had to use the middle 2 lifts as the two outside ones only went up to 14. Our meal sitting was at 9pm which we did find a bit too late. Food and service in the restaurant was very good. The information was Non existent no port info and reception staff extremely rude. Breakfast was ok but they did not know how to serve tea. The biggest problem was that three fourths of the ship were non English speaking. This ship does not cater for the British well and seem to prefer french and Italian. One advantage was that at the end of the cruise you could stay in your cabin till 10 am and stay on board till the coach went to the airport. I dont think I would use this cruise line again they really need to train their reception and shore excursion staff to be pleasant and not rude. Shore excursions were very expensive. Cheaper to get a taxi tour at each port.
