Cruise Reviews
Cold Easter Break
Our first cruise on the MSC Orchestra last April around the Med. Embarkation at Genoa was fine, didn't queue for too long. Had a mid-ship balcony room with husband & 19 year old daughter. Room was fine, clean & spacious, but not much opportunity to use the balcony due to the howling gales. Along the way we did Barcelona, Marseille, Palma, Messina, Naples ( was meant to be Valetta but too stormy to dock). Ship was beautiful, buffet was very very busy & crowded most of the time. We found the food here to be very salty & sometimes cold. Did complain to the beverage manager. The entertainment was a hit or a miss & only one performance a night - must struggle to accommodate for all the nationalities. Didn't participate in any of the activities as I'm quite happy to read & sleep, whilst daughter had brought Uni work to do. Bought their premium internet package that stung us nearly 100 but it was either that or daughter couldn't have joined us. Drinks were lovely especially with the drinks package. Food in the main dining room was fine but a few nights I struggled to find something I liked (fussy tastes). Didn't use the spa although did go to the gym a few times. The most annoying thing for us on this cruise were the photographers- constantly bugging us for photo opportunities. No means no but then daughter is very photogenic with long dark hair & a charming smile. Did some of the ship organised excursions - expensive but no stress. As mentioned it was quite chilly in some ports resulting in the purchase of jacket & jumpers. Disembarktion was smooth. We would probably use them again but back with NCL this year as the itinerary suited us better
