Cruise Elements:

Quality of Food:
Used Islands buffet restaurant for breakfast and lunch. Huge variety of choices. Dined in Gallery and Gallery 47, also Kora La. Did not think given price we paid for cruise there should have been a supplement for dining there; however food was excellent Ate loads of fruit, fish, chicken.
Shore Excursions:
Did our own thing which was the best way to see excatley what you wanted to see. Local taxi companies give excellent value for money.l Worst excursion was one we purchased from the ship... Panoramic Athens and the Plaka.. far to expensive.
Very hard to choose one member of staff. They were all excellent, extremely polite and courteous. The chaps helping us on and off the tenders were very attentive.

Cabin 7544 is superb, very quiet location. Roomy and comfy bed!
Returned last week from a 7 day Aegean Shores cruise on board Marella Discovery. Our cabin was 7544. This is the second time we have cruised with Marella. Excellent ship, spotlessly clean. Sanitation stations manned by crew on entry to restaurants. Food as you would expect from a middle of the range cruise company but you would have to be very fussy not to find something to eat. We tend not to do ship excursions as they are expensive but grab a taxi once outside cruise terminal after having negotiated price. This time we chose to book an excursion to Athens with the ship. Waste of money. Guide was very clear in explaining sights we past and stated clearly the time we had to meet the bus to return to the ship, we were advised that we needed to be punctual as the bus couldn’t park up. All our fellow passengers arrived well before time but there was no sign of the guide with her paddle in the air! Bus arrived and we all got on on. Guide was last person on board the bus. We were missing an elderly lady who had been waiting with us all at the meeting point. The guide did not seem concerned. The Tui employee who was also on the tour got off the bus and searched for the lady holding up the paddle with the tour number on, unfortunately the lady was not to be found. We were informed later that the lady was safe and on an other bus. Last time we ever do a ship excursion. Absolutely not worth the money we had paid. A rip off.
The cruise was very enjoyable but extremely hot in places. We would recommend TUI and Marella cruises to family and friends, so happy cruising x
