Overview: This handsome-looking mid-size ship suits middle-aged and older UK and Scandinavian passengers who want to cruise in a casual, unstuffy environment, in a ship with British food and entertainment. It’s a refreshing change for those who don’t enjoy larger, warehouse-size ...

I'm a young 60 and have always been put off Fred for the same reasons. You've made me want to give them a try. Very helpful review!

Dear Hulland:- No food after 230pm? What about Afternoon Tea in the Palms Restaurant? Did you not read your Daily times? What about the Sail Aways? Did you miss them too?

Cabin service is available at all times. The free options are on the back pages of the booklet. I've had afternoon tea and full meals even in an inside single on the lowest deck!

You must have been on another cruise line. I am an Oceans Club Gold member and the details of your story are simply not possible on a Fred Olsen cruise.

I am so pleased you enjoyed Braemar and took advantage of eating in the Grampian. We always request Grampian, in the window - imagine dinner as you cruise down a river in Germany or something as wonderful. Fred is our favourite cruise line and Braemar is my baby. All 4 ships have their own character but the staff on all are the friendliest on the 7 seas.

I am now almost 72 and always go with Fred. I have been a gold member for quite a long time now and find that the service and courtesy one receives on board is second to none. Love travelling with like minded travellers. It's so nice to go back on board one of his ships and not only do the bar staff remember your name, but also your tipple. Have booked Christmas and the new year on the braemar to the Caribbean this December, with friends I met on a Fred Olsen cruise.Probably won't hit the disco every night, but hopefully every other! Life is for living.
