America in one day?
My husband and I enjoyed a Mystery Cruise on board Fred Olsen's Boudicca. It was great fun trying to guess the destinations before we left home and joined the like-minded passengers on board to continue the guessing. The discussions continued around the dining table [we were in The Tintagel Restaurant] throughout the cruise. We chose to have a buffet breakfast and lunch but you could have waiter service if you wanted to. The food was varied and delicious. We have cruised on other lines but we think their food is the best. The staff were superb, as they always are with Fred Olsen, and couldn't do enough for you. The same applied to the cabin crew. We had an outside cabin which was spacious with plenty of wardrobe space. Back to the Mystery part - only the Captain and those on the Bridge knew our destination. I initially thought we were sailing around Ireland but we were told on the first evening to put our clocks forward - so that put paid to my theory! Some bright sparks told us to look at our phones when we neared land to see where the welcome message came from. Well - we were nearing Oslo and the phones were saying "Welcome to the USA" How did that happen? The whole cruise centred around mysteries with clues and red herrings abounding. There were a couple of Murder Mystery events in the evening too. Where did we actually go? We went to Oslo, Gothenberg, Copenhagen, the Kiel Canal and Amsterdam. Although we had been to most of them before, the ports were big enough to find somewhere new to visit. As we stayed overnight in Amsterdam we booked an evening tour. We didn't know we were going by boat along the canals and it was a magical trip. We would thoroughly recommend people trying a mystery cruise if only just the once.
