This cruise was part of the celebration of my wifes 70th birthday, but unfortunately there wasnt much to enjoy on board. The food in the Queens Grill restaurant was way below what we expected or what is advertised in Cunards literature. The fish was always over cooked and the same applied to the lobster. Being honest the only main meal enjoyed was the rack of lamb, all the rest of the meals were below average which was not what we expected. The maitred was very off handed and gave the impression that he did not care when we pointed out that there was a problem. You would think that if a customer was not happy with something that he would make sure that everything would be satisfactory for the rest of the cruise.(especially in the Queens Grill) The stateroom was a good size with plenty of storage space for clothing and with the added bonus of coffee, tea making facilities and was always kept clean and the butler was pleasant when seen. We were glad that the bands and musicians on board were of the usual high standard and the entertainment crew were full of energy and enthusiasm when running entertaining quizzes etc. The staff throughout the ship all seemed to be on a downer as even a good morning was met with a frown. The theme of the cruise was Ancestry and the lectures were very poor, one of the lectures was held in a small room which could only squeeze in 200 people and there was more than that outside complaining that they could not get in. Overall the cruise was very disappointing as we have sailed with Cunard before and never had any complaints. Will we sail with Cunard again? Will have to see if reviews indicate that their standards are improving and returning to what they were.
