After 49 cruises, I can't remember a cruise ship that was not "Sorry we're full" even when with Cunard we changed cabins three times.

AS a carnival shareholder believe me I hope every cruise ship is full no exceptions, that's why dress codes are now more relaxed to encourage younger clientle..

That sounds like a very large dose of self-interest!

We adore QM2, having travelled on her many time, but our most recent one was the first time we have ever been disappointed. We hated the refit - totally destroyed all her elegance and character. Lunches in the QG restaurant were beyond appalling - raw pasta in luke warm slop anyone? Saw the Butler twice during the week, and the "turndown treat" on formal nights resembled a finger of KitKat snapped in half and sandwiched together with a smear of buttercream. The petit fours after dinner consisted of two fruit jellies, two marshmallows and an inedible mass produced truffle. The so called stocked fridge consisted of two bottles of white wine supplied on Day 1, and never replaced, and fruit delivered one morning was actually removed in the evening! Toiletries never replenished either.

I went on the queen Mary Southampton to Caribbean via New York of course. Good cruise until we reached New York on the return leg. The 2 Americans on our table came down whenever liked - sometimes three quarters of an hour after we had started. The dress code of the whole restaurant was ignored by the Americans. I spoke to the maitre d and he said we can’t do anything , somehave to fly back. It was obvious that they were Cunards bread and butter. All three queens were in Southampton and passengers went to one or another for the World Cruise .
