Spring Mediterranean sunshine
Having booked a suite on QE we were told that we had been upgraded to one of the mega suites at the stern of the ship where the balcony is literally half the width of the vessel. The suite comprised no less than 7 rooms plus a huge walk in cloaks/cupboard. All this plus one of the best tables in the Queend Grill where the food is truly excellent. Apart from two menus to choose from, you can order anything if it is available on board. I asked if the Maitre D could cook me a Steak Diane which was readily agreed for that evening. The full flamb experience at the table with flames up to the ceiling. Everyone else in the Grill asked what I had ordered and the next evening, the flamb trolley was extremely busy. Apart from the stunning suite and superb food, the Mediterranean cruise proved extremely enjoyable with a return visit to Majorca where we re visited one of our favourite spots on the island at Formentor where there are really spectacular views from the cliff top. Another highlight was Santorini where we moored in what was the volcano calder,a, too deep to anchor such that the ship slowly motored around. Absolutely fantastic scenery and a great trip around the island with a welcome visit to a very upmarket winery where there was a local wedding celebration. The cruise was topped off with stops at several Greek islands and Piraeus for Athens. Spring proved a good time to visit as it was pleasantly warm but not too hot. Entertainment was the normal Cunard mix of vocalists, dancers and celebrity guests. Nothing really special on this cruise but we always think that the resident dance troupe are much better than the vocalists who at best can be described as adequate with volume making up for vocal ability. In all a great cruise and many thanks to Cunard for the fantastic upgrade.
