Cruise Elements:

Quality of Food:
All dining venues are superb, but of the speciality, we chose the Italian Prego with a wonderful menu
Entertainment:
A charming young violinist was a great surprise.
Shore Excursions:
We joined a voluntourism excursion in Hawaii, giving some effort and time to a local community
Staff:
So many were terrific, hard to single out one, but a wine waiter Goran, seems to go out of his way to offer wines of the styles we prefe.
Onboard Activities:
A huge choice of daily activities was on offer, sometimes making it hard to chose
Cabins:
The cabin, though small compared to some luxury lines, was well planned and very comfortable. We wish this line would change the toiletry brand from the current Aveda.
Planning an extended trip, we added a transpacific cruise, San Diego to Auckland , in Autumn, on luxury Crystal Symphony. Friends from Canada and Australia decided to join us,so we anticipated a delightful fun filled cruise. In late October, we joined the ship and set sail across th Pacific Ocean , looking forward to an overnight stay in Honolulu. The Pacific was not as peaceful as it's name implies, with quite choppy seas, but almost all passengers were seasoned sailors, well able to cope, though the odd wrist band appeared! It was blissful to be pampered on this luxury ship, and the very varied day and evening entertainment meant that each day brought new joys, meeting fellow passengers, learning a new skill or listening to the excellent , fascinating, lecturers giving daily talks. We truly enjoyed our lovely deck 7 cabin, with wonderfully comfortable bed, tasteful furnishings and lovely marble bathroom . We used the superb room service for breakfast, and relished wonderful dining , either in the superb dining room or in the fabulous specialist Italian and Japanese restaurants. We tried to lunch lightly in the Lido casual eatery, which offered daily changed menus, tiny tapas sized starters and deserts and abundant salad choices. We found the daily wine programme offered quality wines, and favourite wines could always be produced, by the highly professional sommeliers, even if not on the day recommendations Evening entertainment was fantastic, a programme of guest entertainers, from quality classical musicians, to well produced and presented production shows. We also appreciated the delight of a piano bar, the Avenue saloon, where a highly entertaining pianist plays each evening until late. A more relaxed piano programme was played in the Crystal Cove, with its lovely bar. For those feeling more energetic , a house band played dance music each evening, enjoyed by many, and with the added bonus of some charming gentlemen hosts, known as Ambassadors, to partner ladies who travelled alone. We also loved the most beautiful lounge afloat, the gorgeous Palm Court atop the ship, where a small group played several sets of dance/ easy listening music. Honolulu was a delight, but having visited before we decided to do something a bit different, and joined a volunteer group clearing a remote beach. It was a good experience, and we plan to volunteer on future cruises. The following days passed in a busy blur, enjoying all that this excellent line offers, with its superb standards, high quality service and great levels of professionalism.
