We are regulars on Cunard and it was a privilege to join a Crystyal ship. They are more expensive but the whole experience is more one of a private country club than a large ship. We travelled from Yokohama to Hong Kong, the ship, crew and facilities were first class. It took a short while to integrate as we joined on a part of their world cruise so inevitably some where very familiar with the ship and knew others but that soon passed. A very American experience as was to be expected but some days it felt as if we had a whole private yacht to ourselves with so much space. Often you could look down the deck and see no one. The only weak port was Shanghai, now a new port out in the bay, very unwelcoming but that is the Chinese setup not Crystals fault, but certainly not a port I would rush back to, not helped by very bad weather and very heavy smog. Overall, the Crystal experience was fabulous with brilliant speakers to help while away the sea days, will definitly return, when I can afford the difference.
