Cruise Elements:

Quality of Food:
Least at lunch time - Most Booked evening sitting at 2100 hrs main dining room and Breakfast
Entertainment:
Not applicable - Didn't attend any shows
Shore Excursions:
Not applicable - Too expensive to do therefore did our own thing
Staff:
The reception staff, bar staff and waiter's all good. The reception staff helped us cancel a car hire we had booked. The ship didn't call at Lerwick due to rough weather.
Childrens Activities:
Not applicable
Onboard Activities:
No comparison - Carnival Magic had much better facilities than this ship
Cabins:
The size of the cabin was good - I expected toiletries and a kettle to make tea and coffee overnight as the air gets dry. I did not expect to overlook a lifeboat - blocked view.
Prior to this cruise I have been on Carnival, Celebrity and Thompson. Costa has nothing on these ships. - So let's start at the beginning I thought i'd book a nice spacious balcony cabin for our family having had one with Celebrity ( at a much cheaper price than Costa ) so I presume I thought I would get the same offering but that was wishful thinking and felt very deflated when.... Oh no... there are no toiletries in the cabin apart from shower soap dispenser...Oh no.... there is no kettle in the cabin to make tea or coffee and OH NO.... we're overlooking a lifeboat blocking our view : ( - That was just the start of things to come. Meal times 1800 or 2100. What a choice coming back off excursions meant straight to dinner without freshening up therefore we chose 2100 sitting. I expected a jug of water with meals ( as with other cruises we have had )
NOPE - You have to pay for that. So we had our first Four Course meal and sat waiting - What for ? Tea / Coffee Madam and Monsieur - Not likely - we realised there was no offer of after dinner drinks. It went downhill from thereon in. The second night we waited an hour to be served and was still eating close on 2300 hrs. The menu was boring with miniscule portions and a lack of variety especially for international customers - I e - You're not Italian are you ? I thought I would order an English breakfast What a mistake - The bacon was strips of fat, I had 5 mushrooms and the beans were stodgy. There was a fresh juice machine at lunch time but the only thing available was water and to add insult to injury they took a Hotel Service Charge at end of billing of £500 - When asked if this was tips the receptionist said no but I have now read after the event,  that they take 10 pound per person per night. Excursions were too expensive to do so we did our own thing. BUT THE BIGGEST COMPLAINT. = Having never been to Amsterdam we didn't know where the port was situated so googled it and it came up with 5 minutes from Amsterdam Central.... so we left It late - arrived at a port near Amsterdam Central for it to be the wrong port. Fortunately for a total of 15 passengers a bus shuttle took us to IJMUIDEN - For had it not we would have missed our cruise : ( - I have never paid out £6000 for a balcony cabin and not had anything in return
Never again Costa
