Cruise Elements:

Quality of Food:
The food on this ship was wonderful. No need to use speciality restaurants
The American comedian was dyer. Other shows were good quality and very professional
Shore Excursions:
We did our own thing. The reggae bus on StKitts was out of this world and a taxi tour In St Lucia ended with us taking an ad hoc walk around the Daren Sammy test crickets ground
They were all good
Childrens Activities:
Onboard Activities:
Trivia quizzes when the questions are not all USA centric
Large cabins with plenty of storage
We booked this cruise after as soon as we returned from a previous cruise last year. Same ship, same time just a different itinerary. Last years cruise had been excellent. Brilliant food, accommodation and service. However, it has been a whirlwind year in between the cruises with my wife being diagnosed with cancer and receiving chemo treatment and entering remission only a month before we were due to leave. This month was hectic, arranging insurance, airport parking and hotel having finally got the go ahead.
I thought that it would be worth sharing a few facts about the travel insurance side. We made the booking for the cruise and flights a few weeks after returning under the cover of our previous Admiral annual worldwide cruise insurance. Over the next 3 months we got news that my wife needed tests and exploratory surgery for cancer. This resulted in a cancer diagnosis and 6 months of intensive chemo. Once we knew the diagnosis I spoke with Admiral and they told me that our annual cover would need to be cancelled immediately. They said that I could claim straight away. However, we thought that the new cruise was far enough away to be a credible target to keep us positive through my wife’s treatment. The lady at Admiral said that we did not need to cancel cruise and flights straight away. She said that even though our insurance was cancelled they would honour the costs of our bookings to date (cruise deposit and full fares for transatlantic return flights) until the dates we were intended to take them. This gave us options that I didn’t think were available and I don’t think other people would realise. In late August the treatment was going well and we decided to take a risk and make the final payment on the cruise 6 weeks before we would get the treatment results. We were over the moon when we were told that my wife was in remission in late October with 4 weeks to go before we were due to go on this cruise. I now needed to get new travel insurance. I only managed to find 2 companies who would insure us. These being Staysure and Allclear. We finally settled with Staysure. The first tip I have is having done the normal internet searches also talk to your short list on the telephone. I managed to secure further discounts (these discounts only apply to the travel aspects of the premium and not the whole premium that includes a major medical element). Second tip do not take a couples or annual policy, only take a policy out for the traveller with poor a health record. Do the other policy as a much cheaper “compare the market” stand alone single policy. The cost of my wife’s policy was 10 times more than mine. I have also found that European cruise insurance is up to 80% cheaper than that for the USA/Caribbean.
Anyway we got our insurance and went on the cruise. The crew on Celebrity Reflection indeed, treated us like Celebrities. We had a fantastic time cruising the windward islands. The high standards that we experienced in 2018 were still there in 2019.
Well done Celebrity. And persevere, there is a way through the insurance maze. However the next cruise may be back in Europe.
