Living on the Edge
We have recently returned from a wonderful cruise on Celebrity's Edge. This beautiful ship is well worth a visit. We stayed in one of the new Infinity Balcony Staterooms, and it certainly lived up to expectations. The bathroom was fitted out with a glass door shower, of ample room, and more than enough storage space, In fact, the storage throughout the room excelled other ships. (we have sailed around 14 times previously with a number of companies, normally in either inside, outside or balcony rooms). Without a doubt, a visit to the Bistro for Le Petit Chef makes for a unique experience, however, the specialty restaurants have a cover charge of around $55 pp, which I think is expensive so if you have onboard credit, treat yourself! We sailed from Ft. Lauderdale to Key West and onto Cozumel and Costa Maya in Mexico, Grand Cayman then back to Ft. Lauderdale. There are the usual boutiques on-board, and a small area in the alcohol section (I don't know why it's in this section but it is) where 'forgotten' items such as toothpaste etc can be purchased at a premium price so make sure you have all of your things before getting on-board, as the prices are HIGH. If you fancy a pedicure for your holidays, treat yourself BEFORE you get on board. They charge a WHOPPING $70/$80 for a pedicure with a French finish and then add a further 18%, which is NOT mentioned on any price list. Celebrity, either amend your prices to a more realistic fee, ie $25/$30 with a gratuity charge or amend your paperwork. Whether your clients are from the States, UK or other countries, we have already paid enough to sail and most of us have pre-paid our gratuities, stop automatically assuming we will pay extra for an already overpriced service...and stop the practice of trying to upsell products in the spa. People go there to relax!! Overall this new ship is lovely. Do you get anything better on this than other ships? Slightly more modern. But having said this, ships are always being highly maintained and refitted. As on all ships whatever the company, the staff can not do enough for you. Always smiling and willing to help.
