We had the pleasure of taking our first cruise on The Celebrity Eclipse. We had no real idea what to expect From this 14 night South American cruise. We flew to Santiago Chile where we spent 2 nights in this lovely city, before being picked up by coach and taken to our ship. I was struck by the size and appearance of the ship. We were greeted by pleasant staff with a choice of champagne or juice. Our cabin with balcony was well equipped and kept spotlessly clean. The evening dining experience was very good, giving us a choice to dine purely as a couple, or join a group table to socialise and share our experience. The cruise took us South and anti-clockwise towards Antrtica, around Cape Horne, and North, va Uruguay to finish at Buenas Aires, Argentina. The well equipped ship included a spacious self service restaurant on Deck 14, main restaurant on decks 3 and 4 together with some smaller select dining restaurants about the ship. A large casino, theatre and lots of bars which were well staffed and relaxing to visit. We had a great laugh at our first silent disco, which we followed up by our second, third, and fourth silent discos during our cruise. The large, well equipped gym at the front of the ship kept us active and we could pay extra for group classes if we fancied. No thanks. Again the staff were faultless. More social opportunities at the pools and jacuzzis which again were kept spotless by the staff. We were well looked after by the staff who were very attentive without being pushy. At each port there were opportunities to take trips bookable onboard, or you could take your chances with local travel companies. These were represented portside which were a lot cheaper. Or venture out into the towns yourself. We were also fortunate enough to have time to extend our stay in Argentina following our cruise. We were able to move our return flight back at no extra charge. We had a great first cruise saw penguins, viewed glaciers and sampled South America. Well certainly cruise again.
