Celebrity Eclipse sailing round the Caribbean
Having sailed mainly with Royal Caribbean and Princess in the past we decided to try Celebrity. We were certainly not disappointed and found it to be a few notches up from our previous cruises. Firstly I should add that we don't have any children, so cruises with less children's activities are a bonus for us along with less children around in general. We found the food in the main dining room to be of a higher standard certainly when compared to some of the slightly older ships in Royal Caribbean's fleet. The service was also slightly better. The ship is beautiful and more refined although it doesn't have all the entertainment options like flo riders and ice skating but we never use them anyway. The cabin which was an standard balcony seemed a little bigger also. In summary for couples I would choose Celebrity over Royal Caribbean. If however the price and itinerary was better on Royal Caribbean then I would still happily choose to sail Royal especially on one of the newer ships. The one negative comment I have is limited deck space on sea days, never have we ever had problems finding a couple of loungers on any other cruise. We did encounter this problem several times on this cruise. It wasn't a big deal but we found we had to plan if we wanted to get up early in order to get a couple of beds or wait and try at lunchtime when some became available. Entertainment was very good each evening with a good variety and an abundance of live music throughout the ship. The ship is in excellent condition and spotless in every area we encountered which is more than I can say for our last Royal Caribbean. Therr are extra touches on Celebrity like toilet attendants that keep them very clean and even pass you a proper towel to dry your hands. Like many have said before, if Royal Caribbean is 4 star then Celebrity is 5 star rating.
