Cruise Elements:

Quality of Food:
There is only one dining room but it was well laid out and comfortable. It allows you to share a table with friends or eat alone if preferred.
Entertainment:
Shore Excursions:
The best excursions for me were in the eastern bloc countries, because this was totally unique and new to me.
Staff:
Everybody was outstanding.
Childrens Activities:
None. Totally not suitable for children.
Onboard Activities:
Not too many activities on board except watching the world go by in close-up, which is unbeatable.
Cabins:
Not excessively large, but well equipped, comfortable and totally adequate.
Please note that I have had to file this under Avalon Panorama as there was no Avalon Passion on the dropdown menu! This was our first European river cruise and it was fantastic. From the moment we were picked up and chauffeured to the airport until we were dropped off home again, it was a 24 day, five star experience. The Avalon Passion is a beautiful ship and was spotless and orderly from when we arrived until we left. Our cabin had a full glass outer wall which slid back to provide a 2/3 open Juliet balcony. The bathroom was beautifully equipped with a full size glass door shower and marble worktops. The bed was king sized and very comfortable. There was a wide choice of food, which was well cooked and beautifully presented. The accompanying inclusive wines were of a good quality and liberally topped up. Service was professional, friendly and attentive. Everyone on board did everything they could to make your holiday great. The inclusive tours at every stop were well organised and interesting. The stops in Romania, Bulgaria, Serbia, Croatia, Hungary, Austria and Slovakia particularly fascinating. The on-board entertainment wasn't a major feature, it was quite varied but because the days are so filled with excursions, we tended to get to bed early in order to be ready for the next day! I'm sorry that this is turning out to be a rather boring review, because absolutely everything was excellent and there was really nothing that I can to complain about! The one thing to note is that for a lot of the River Main stretch, because of the low bridges, the top deck railings and canopy has to be lowered and use of the top deck restricted in case someone has their head knocked off. My only problem is that it will be really difficult to find another holiday that matches this river cruise!
