Anthem of the Seas – Fantastic!!

Last weekend I had the opportunity to sail on the Anthem of the Seas for a 2 night pre-inaugural cruise. I have to say I was really excited to see this new Quantum class ship, there has been so might hype over the past few weeks and with lots of positive comments from the launch of the Quantum of the Seas.

From the start I absolutely loved the ship, from all the gadgets and mod cons to the cabins, the food and the genuine excitement from the staff.

There is so much to tell you about the ship, but what I am going to concentrate on today are the productions I watched while on board. Now I am not a big fan of the theatre productions or shows on cruise ships, in fact I try to stay clear of them but I had heard so much about these that I was really intrigued. The first night saw the Spectra’s Cabaret in the café Two70. What a transformation this room is from day to evening. In the day it’s a great room to enjoy a picnic-style meal providing 270 degrees panoramic sea views through floor to ceiling glass walls spanning two and half decks high, to the evening where Spectra and his Agents of Rhythm invite you to an eclectic multi-dimensional cabaret, it blends live performance with pop music and digital imagery. I can honestly say it was mesmerizing, I loved it!!

The second night I went into the main theatre to watch the Broadway Musical We Will Rock You. Absolutely amazing, and I genuine mean that, it got my attention for the whole 2 hours. They performed the show twice, once at 5.30pm and the other at 10.30pm. I went to the 10.30 show, which to be honest I wished I saw the earlier performance, only because of the time the 10.30 show finished. This is what is so good with the flexibility of the dynamic dining options, as you can pre book your table the time that suits you and fits around the shows you have pre booked. The seats were extremely comfortable and staff were around to take any drink orders.

There really is so much to see and do any time of the day and night. Late afternoon the Royal Esplanade was my favourite part of the ship. After doing a bit of shopping it was a great place to take a break, grab a speciality coffee and of course it wouldn’t have been the same without sampling one of their gorgeous cakes!!
