Could you ever say all cruises are the same?

I constantly get cruise enquiries from very eager wives who want to cruise, who then tell me that their partner is not interested, and it all falls flat. Much to her disappointment. Of course, I successfully persuade far more couples to cruise than those who choose not to.

My answer has in the past, and probably now more than ever, will be:

“no two people are alike and we all enjoy different things, but a cruise is well worth considering because there is something for everybody. Your partner won’t need much convincing that a cruise might be fun.” Crucially, I am always keen to speak to the one who does not want to cruise.

I like to get their “take” on what they believe a cruise would be like for them. Invariably, once I speak to the negative one, their thoughts are far off the mark as to what a cruise is…     and then they are sold.

Naturally, there are many great reasons why a cruise is such a great choice for a holiday. Here are just a few:

1 – THE ITINERARY

The vast majority of cruise ships plan their itinerary so that the ship calls into a different port every day or every other day.

This means normally only one day at sea between port visits and little time for your husband to get bored on ship. There are many activities he can join in when the ship is at sea. There will be bars, restaurants, keep fit classes, port talks, life-enriching lectures and cabarets to name a few. There will be many more choices than one might expect to find in a hotel onshore.

2 – THE SHIP

The real beauty of a cruise is that one gets to see multiple locations and keep the same hotel room (the ship) alleviating the need to constantly pack, wait in lines or take trains or planes.

You might choose to splash out on a lavish suite if it’s a special occasion!! The ship takes you everywhere and on time.

3 – NO-FLY CRUISES

No fly cruises are very popular. A no fly cruise eliminates the need to fly to the ships’ port, avoiding hotels, travelling, hours of waiting and security checks. More often than not you can drive directly to the ship and your holiday starts the moment you step onboard.

4 – PORTS OF CALL

Cruise ships take passengers to interesting and exciting locations.

More often than not, once a ship is in port, special  excursions will be available, so not a moment is lost in seeing the important places of interest and without any hassle.

5 – VARIETY AND FUN

What other kind of holiday offers so much? You can sit and have lunch whilst slowly steaming down a Norwegian Fjord looking at snow covered mountains. Or you could be dining whilst passing a volcano on a tiny island in the Caribbean.

Or, better still, on today’s modern mega-ships, with every imaginable form of entertainment, the ship itself could be your dream holiday. Never mind where it goes. There will be no time to get bored.

6 – STRESS FREE

Cruising takes the strain and worry away, no missed reservations, no cancelled flights, no airport security. So very little of this…

Everywhere you go, your hotel goes too. There are also many different cruise ships to choose from – the very large ships down to boutique ships, depending on the kind of holiday you want. It’s a well known fact … cruising is the fastest growing sector of all types of holiday and is set to continue as long as the many cruise lines search for new and innovative ways to keep their customers coming back again and again.
