Oh what a Saga!

Well despite not making it to Bruges I am back from a fantastic  VIP trade event on Saga’s  brand new  “Spirit of Discovery”. This was my first experience of Saga and I must say I was very  impress with this newest addition to their fleet.

The 58,250 tonnes, 999 passengers, is the first of two ships with her Sister arriving 2020.

From first stepping on board you could tell just how much effort had gone in from the design team who have created a classy elegant feel throughout allowing us all to look forward to being over 50 and able to enjoy such luxuries.

All my first impression were positive the cabins I found in comparison to other similar cruise lines very spacious with classic furnishings but modern touches such as USB sockets and glass shower curtains.

Each night we enjoyed the Grand dining room which was great for all tastes with a great selection of Fish, meat and vegetarian options all of which was cooked to perfection.

The Grand Dining room is available for breakfast and dinner and most surprisingly (after being unimpressed with Cunard and MSC attempts in the past) a fantastic afternoon tea.

Spirit of Discovery offers 3 extra dining options  ‘Coast to Coast’ a specialty fish restaurant. East to West offering Asian Cuisine plis the amazing  ‘The Club by Jools’ created in association with Jools Holland Obe.

Entertainment evening was centered around the 444 seat theater the “Playhouse” we were treated to a taste of what the production team could do with a variety of the songs from the movies plus a one off eye popping performance BBC One’s “the Greatest dancer” act THE GLOBE GIRLS who are a  London-based drag group.

(yes they are tall, but also I am that short lol)

Overall I loved my time on this brand new ship and I look forward to sharing my experience with anyone considering cruising with Saga. If you are over 50 and looking for some more information about Saga cruise holidays  please call me directly on 0330 303 8260 or email me at [email protected]

Until next time

Marie
