Celebrity earlier this week came out with some very exciting news that the Celebrity Edge will launch earlier than planned, although I understand the disappointment from those that have already booked thinking they had booked the maiden voyage’s although this seems to becoming more of a thing as both the Harmony and Symphony have done new sailings after announce a sailings, including the Maiden Voyage.
The Celebrity Edge was due to come out in December this year, however she will now have five sailings before the Maiden Voyage. They will now have the Inaugural cruise on the 21st November.
The new sailings will include 4 short – mini preview sailings and then she will also have an extra 7 night slotted in there too.
The Mini Cruises will go to the Bahamas from Fort Lauderdale and the longer 7 night cruise will go to ports such as Grand Cayman, Cozumel and Key West, and for those wanting something longer you can add on the next seven night cruise which covers different ports of call.
“Thanks to the amazing work of the STX France shipyard team, the industry-changing Celebrity Edge is now scheduled to arrive much earlier than anticipated, which gave us the opportunity to offer not one, but two maiden voyages,” said Lisa Lutoff-Perlo, President and CEO, Celebrity Cruises in a news release.
I personally am really excited to see what Celebrity do with the Edge, its been a long time since Celebrity have had a new class of ship and I know how Popular the Eclipse has been with the UK market so hopefully in years to come we can hope to see a EDGE class ship based in UK Waters.
Celebrity Edge will join the Symphony of the Seas and the MSC Seaview as some of the new ships to join the cruising world in 2018!
Are you booked for the Celebrity Edge? Now is the time if not!
