Is Royal Caribbean following NCL?

Royal Caribbean announced this week that they are ditching the traditional dining for a new concept which is called Dynamic dining, which is in practice the same as Norwegian cruise lines Freestyle dining where passengers can choose the dining venue and the time they want to dine every night without the traditional early or late dining sitting on the same table every night. This is on the Quantum class ships at the moment and not on all the other classes as yet. Also they are offering a new app that passengers will be able to use on their mobile devices or tablets to make restaurant reservations while on board or even before the sailing. This amenity is already offered by NCL a while ago, and when I last went on the NCL Epic earlier on in May, I found The app will show real-time availability it very useful to use and I have made restaurant and show reservations using my Ipad, you don’t need to be connected by buying internet minutes, as it’s free to use on board. The app will show real-time availability for the on-board eateries and let users make reservations. If the dining room has ample space available, the app will show that, too. Cruisers can also use the apps to reserve shore tours and spa appointments.

Passengers will have 5 main dining options included apart from the speciality dining options which can also be reserved through the app. Personally I like the freedom dining concept and I think it will attract more first time cruisers, it’s nice that finally they are following the freestyle concept which started with the anytime dining option and now, dynamic, and I am looking forward to sample it when I go on one of these ships in the future. What do you think?
