The Edge

I’m going on the Celebrity Edge. I’m actually very excited about this as being a brand new ship and one that I had considered booking as my own holiday last year. I won this as a little competition at work. Only going for two nights from Southampton in May but all the same, open bar, a tour around the ship and two days off work can’t be bad. I’ll technically be working a little though. I mean I will be taking several photo’s and videos as well as social media content of course so to me that’s working. Right?

The Edge will be a Celebrity edge Class of ship and along with a sister ship The Apex due in 2020 and with two further, yet to be named ships will be delivered into service in 2021 & 2022

The Edge will be quote big at some 130,000 Tons and carrying almost 3000 on board. The tonnage being a little more than The Reflection and about the same for number of passengers, in the Celebrity fleet this wold be considered a big ship. Very similar in size to the Solstice class. I personally prefer the larger ships. I’ve only been on the Celebrity Constellation and I am due to travel on the Equinox later in September though, and that one being my own holiday.

The Edge will coming to Southampton from the U.S – Departing Fort Lauderdale through Bermuda, Portugal, Spain & France and then into Southampton. I’d like to have done that transatlantic crossing.  she had her maiden voyage last December and once she leaves Southampton on the 15th May she’ll be heading to Mediterranean throughout the summer and then she’ll head back from Rome in November as a transatlantic back to Fort Lauderdale which will be her home port doing the Eastern and Western Caribbean itineraries.

I’m looking forward to seeing the various stateroom type on board the edge. This ship will have infinity Verandas that will be a first, never seen these on a ship before. Being Celebrity Cruises it will have the usual Concierge, Sky and Celebrity Suites etc. Looking at the prices for this ship it’s no surprise being a new ship it is quote pricey but then what ship isn’t when it’s new?

Do look out for my future blogs as I will be posting photo’s and as well as social media some video’s too.
