Cunard announce 4th Ship for 2022

Cunard have announced recently that they plan to add to their fleet by building a 4th ship. They haven’t yet named the new ship. It is believed to be in the region of 113,000 Tons and will carry 3,000 passengers.

The new ship will be constructed over the next few years by Italian ship builders Fincantieri.

This is to be part of an ambitious plans for the future as Cunard said. They had recently spent £172m to refurbish the Queen Mary 2. I had been on the QM2 since it’s refurbishment and thought it was very nice.

This will be the first time since 1998 that Cunard has had 4 ships in service at the same time. It will also be the first time Cunard have had a new ship since 2010 when it was the Queen Elizabeth. The unnamed new ship will arrive in the year 2022. I’m sure it will have a lot of interest registering for its maiden voyage.

Cunard is owned by the Carnival group and is one of the oldest brands in the passenger shipping history having operated for more than 175 years. Cunard was founded back in 1839 and the new vessel will be the 249th ship to fly the Cunard flag. I honestly couldn’t name them all I’m not going to lie!

Cunard are expected to announce more plans regarding their new ship later this year. I wonder what they’ll name her? Any guesses?
