Hi everyone. I cannot believe we are now in to April! Where is this year going?
It is the time of year where people are now finalising their plans for their Summer Holiday if they have not done so already. It is time to choose what kind of holiday you would prefer to take.
I am very lucky because my parents own a holiday lodge in Norfolk right on the coast so I do tend to spend a bit of the summer there..I’m not going to say no to free holiday!! What I want to know is what are the pros and cons of staying in the UK as opposed to taking a cruise? Hopefully here I will help you decide.
UK Break
There are so many holiday parks to choose from here in the UK. There are family friendly ones to more exclusive adult orientated ones but what are the pros and cons of these.
Pros:
- Travel Distance – no need to worry about flying thousands of miles to your destination or worrying about passports and visas
- Price – from around £400 you can have a 7 night stay for a family of 4 in a holiday park self catering and explore the countryside and enjoy family activities
Cons:
- Weather – as we all know the British Summer is unpredictable to say the least so there is no guarantee of returning with a tan!
- Price – although this is in the pros it can also be a con because a lot of UK breaks are on Self Catering so you have to take in to account the additional cost for food and drink and also some entertainment may not be included
Cruise
More and more people are choosing cruises for their summer holiday with some people going on a few cruises a year and with the number of cruiselines and itineraries on offer its not surprising
Pros
- Sail from your local port – There are now more cruises sailing from different ports in the UK than ever so no need to worry about your luggage allowance!
- Everything Included in One Price – All meals are included on board your cruise and now a lot of cruise lines offer an All Inclusive option so there’s no need to worry about the cost of drinks. The majority of entertainment is also included
Cons
- Tied to a Schedule – unlike a UK break you are tied to a ship’s schedule so you cannot pick and choose where you go each day
- Passports and Visas – You will of course always require a passport which is an extra expense. Depending where you cruise you may also require a visa which can sometimes be extra hassle
So…which option would you prefer to go for. Personally as much as I love the UK I also love the adventure of cruising so for me its a bit of both.
