Tips For Cruisers Wanting To Stray Off The Beaten Path

Cruising for me is the best type of holiday there is to see new places and try different experiences you may not have on a land based holiday.

I personally love having my own mini adventure when docking at the different ports as I am sure most of you would.  There is nothing like having the chance to explore the place you are visiting on your own.  I have done this myself many times and it is an exhilarating experience.

Here are some of my top tips to have this experience by getting away from the crowds and experience the port of call like a local.

Jump In A Taxi

Outside the port gates there are always lots of taxis waiting.  I would recommend jumping in to a taxi and ask the taxi driver for recommendations on where to go and see where you end up.  Another option if you do not feel confident to do this would be to ask the taxi driver to take you in to the local town to explore at leisure.

Hire A Bike

Did you know that a lot of cruise ships will actually let you either borrow or rent out a bike for the day? This is the best way to see the ‘real’ place you’re visiting and get a proper feel of the local area.  You can cover more ground than on foot and visit places that are not full of tourist crowds as well.

Take A Good Camera

This is a must for anyone wanting to explore off the beaten track as the pictures you can get will be truly amazing and different from everyone else on the cruise. You will want to capture every moment so make sure you have a camera that can handle everything you want to do.

Well there you go those are my main top tips for doing something different when visiting ports.  I hope you have found this helpful.  Please get in touch with me if you would like any more information.
