Cruise Buffets…How to Make Sure You’re Getting Your Money’s Worth

Here is a fact about cruising…at some point everyone will always eat in the main dining room or the buffet several times on board their cruise.  For myself it all depends on my mood.  I enjoy the dining room for the ambiance and the buffet for the convenience.

The main dining room is the more formal option.  For this their are waiters who will serve you and the menus are set menus that do change every night so you their is always plenty of choice.  The buffet has a very relaxed atmosphere and you can go up the serving stations and have as many helpings as you like.

For all the first time cruisers reading this the buffet is always open.  Fancy a midnight snack?  Not a problem.  Fancy a later than usual breakfast?  Problem solved.

Now I have given you a brief introduction in to the main two dining options I would like to give you some tips on how to make the most of the buffet…believe me these do work!

Tip Number 1 – Make Friends With The Waiting Staff

Although the buffet is self service the waiters are still on hand to help.  They will clear the tables, ask how everything is and also refresh your drinks.  It makes the best of both worlds in my opinion, you have the self service aspect combined with waiter service so you really feel on holiday

Tip 2 – Wear Whatever You Want

There is no dress code in the buffet.  Of course swimwear is not allowed but apart from that anything goes!

Tip 3 – Try Food You Never Thought Of Trying Before…Now’s The Chance To Be Adventurous!

Every type of food is included in the price of the cruise so if there is something you always wanted to try but did not want to pay for it now’s your chance.  It won’t matter if you dislike the food you are trying it does not matter…anyone fancy a snail?!

Well these are my three top tips to get great value from the buffet on board a cruise ship.

I hope you have enjoyed reading this and will now want to book a cruise to go and try these tips out!
