All You Need To Know About Cruise Destinations

As a cruise specialist I spend a lot of time talking to my clients about how amazing cruise ships are (which is so true!) and all the facilities and activities that are on board.
I also talk a lot about the different cruise lines and the ships so I can help you match the perfect cruise to your needs. The one thing that I do not feel I talk enough about are the destinations the cruise ships sail to.
There are some cruisers who never get off the ship when its in port and like to make the most of the ship being quieter and there are some cruisers who visiting new places is what makes their cruise.
I have put together a guide to some of the destinations cruise ships visit around the world and what there is to do at these places.
Dubrovnik Croatia

Known as the ‘Pearl of the Adriatic’, make sure you’re on deck for the first glimpse of this stunning walled city on Croatia’s craggy coast.
Indulge in a few hours’ sun worshipping if you make the effort to take the mile-long walk east of the city and go down the long, steep steps to the beautiful St Jakov Beach.
Dubrovnik has lots of options for dining but for a fabulous Mediterranean meal visit Restaurant Dubrovnik where the food is definitely more imaginative than the name!
Walking the ancient city walls is a must for any sightseer. Its a mile and a quarter circuit dating back to the 13th century and is by far the best way to view the Old Town and Adriatic Sea.
Barbados Caribbean

With stunning beaches, crystal clear waters and an oasis of lush gardens, Barbados is in my opinion the ultimate tropical paradise.
Make your first stop Harrison’s Cave which is hidden in Saint Thomas parish. Travel along via tram to see the wall murals and water carvings. This is a must for any photographers. If you would prefer you can walk at your own pace through the caves.
Scuba Diving is another must in Barbados. Take a trip to Dottin’s Reef where you can see coral, turtles, tropical fish and barracuda! If you cannot dive don’t worry. You can snorkel in the shallows where you can still have a look at all the ocean life.
For those of you who like a party visit the capital where partying starts from 11am in the morning! St Lawrence Gap is the best place to visit with diverse cultures, a wide variety of music and some of the best food vendors in town.
Bruges Belgium

This city is a personal favourite of mine. Its a real life fairytale, medieval town with cobbled lanes and canals and one of the most popular destinations for a mini cruise from the UK.
Of course one of the things Belgium is famous for is their beer. The Café’t Burgs Beertje serves over 300 brands of it (with five on draft)!
We must not forget another famous export from Belgium which is chocolate and who of us is not partial to a bit of chocolate now and again! Delve in to all things chocolate at Choco-Story where you learn all about the history of chocolate and of course get to taste a few samples!
One of the best things to do in Bruges is the Bruges Walking Tour. You can discover this beautiful city at your own pace and finish with a free beer at the Bauhaus
Miami Florida

Miami has the largest cruise ship port in the world and of course has the famous beach that everyone knows.
Visit the famous South Beach which is a mixture of contemporary and historical where you can enjoy a spot of sunbathing and make the most of the sights and entertainment.
A trip to Miami would not be complete without the obligatory shopping spree! Here you will find everything from 1920’s fashion to top designer brands like Gucci and Chanel. Miami is famous for their crab claws so head to Joe’s Stone Crab for a treat not to be missed.
Miami is well known for its art so if you have that artistic touch visit the Art Deco District along Ocean Drive. It contains more than 800 buildings that date from the 1920’s to the 1940’s, making it home to the world’s largest collection of Art Deco architecture.
I hope you have enjoyed reading about some of the destinations you can visit and if it has made you want to tick them off your bucket list then get in touch and I will be happy to help you on your journey.
