Brrrrr!

New snorkelling trips launched to Antarctica.

A cruise tour operator is offering intrepid customers the chance to snorkel in the icy waters of the Antarctic for the first time. ‘At last, finally’… I hear you cry!

The expedition cruise company Aurora Expeditions has introduced a “polar snorkelling” option to its latest adventure trips to the southerly extreme of the planet.

Describing it as a “ground breaking new activity”, the Australian-owned company says the snorkel outings will “provide passengers with the opportunity to explore the icy waters alongside penguins, seals and whales.”

And of course the opportunity to explore the icy wonders of ‘Hypothermia’ I would imagine….

Hypothermia happens when a person’s body temperature drops below 35°C, and with water temperatures in the Antarctic hovering around -2°C well, lets just say you wouldn’t be getting me in there!

Those taking part would use drysuits designed for snorkelling, as well as gloves, hood, weight belt, fins, mask and snorkel…. hot water bottle, Brandy and a massive walk-in microwave enabling a quick re-heating process…only joking.

The operator is running a number of Antarctica-bound expeditions in February and March next year where the snorkelling outings will be available.

Don’t all rush at once!
