Sally Walker Talks Cruises

Stop Clowning about!!

So the headlines this week were that of a mass brawl that broke out on Britannia on Friday as it was sailing from a week long cruise to the Norwegian Fjords.

The fight broke out in the buffet restaurant late at night on Friday, a staff member had initially tried to intervene only causing himself injury.

Six people were involved and there were significant injuries.

An ITV reporter who also was onboard at the time heard about the incident on the tannoy when security were called for about 2am.

There was supposedly  blood everywhere and passengers had used furniture and plates as weapons.

Now this is where it is unclear as one passenger has given a statement to say the brawl broke out because of a person dressed as clown on the black tie event, which of course, P&O do not allow fancy dress of any kind.

But P&O have confirmed there was no Clown involved of which Hampshire police have also confirmed this too.

But what we do know, this was almost certainly fueled by alcohol after an afternoon of partying on deck as a sailaway party took place. And it is only recent P&O have started to offer drinks packages, I wonder how long this will last for.

But really, this can happen anywhere, all a cruise line, airline or hotelier can do is ensure there is appropriate security at hand. Well done to them for dealing with the situation.

Safe travels all.
