Festival weather is finally here….

After working overseas for ten years, the thing I missed most about the UK apart from family & friends of course were ‘Music festivals’. I can’t think of a better way to spend four days than with a 24 hour flowing bar, good mates, a great selection of bands, every cuisine you can imagine under the sun and of course the Great British sunshine. Well two weeks ago the weather certainly did not let us down.

This time we caught a slightly different mode of transport out of Southampton, rather than boarding a luxury liner, we packed onto Red Funnel ferry’s with thousands of festival goers and headed off to Isle of White for the weekend. Armed with our new super deluxe £49 tent, several bottles of slow gin and champagne we were sure to be in for a great weekend.

The sun shone as we were entertained by the likes of  Happy Mondays, Emeli Sande, Paloma Faith, The Script, Boomtown rats, Newton Faulkner, Steve Harley & Cockney Rebel, Bon Jovi, Stone Roses, Killers, Paul Weller, Jake Bugg, Levellers, T’Pau, Blonie, Example, just to name a few….

Star performance of the weekend had to go to Bob Geldof with the Boom Town rats, after a 27 year break he had the whole audience captured in his hands with the ‘I don’t like Mondays’, classic, in his fake snake skin suit, classic!

One of my old school friends I met up with had the best deal of the weekend, with her complementary festival tickets she was invited to massage the stars before they headed on stage, lucky girl eh!!!!

If you’ve never been to a music festival and are put off by the mud & other facilities (you know the ones), there are plenty of 1, 2 & 3 day festivals around the UK and Europe, they are a great way to see live bands, some of them are free too. We’ll be heading over to the ‘Upton Blues festival’ in two weeks time to continue our festival Summer, might see you there…..
