My wedding in Las Vegas

It’s my 15th Wedding anniversary on Sunday!

Seems like only yesterday we were jetting off to Vegas with friends and family!

It was a double wedding with my sister which made it even more special! I could not have dreamt of doing it any other way.

Most of the guests stayed at the hotel Bally’s which was just over the road from the Flamingo Hilton which is where I stayed and also the venue for the wedding. On the other side of Bally’s the hotel Paris was being built!

So why did I get married in Las Vegas?

I had always wanted to get married somewhere away from home. Somewhere tropical or pretty!

My parents had visited Vegas the year before with some friends and seen the chapel at the Flamingo Hilton. I always thought it was tacky.. But if my mum approved then it sounded perfect. White chapel, lovely setting and a bustling city too!

The process was easy.. I rang the hotel and a wedding co-ordinator arranged everything for us.. Even a little reception in one of the hotel restaurants.

We had to obtain a wedding licence from the town hall a few days before. The queue was nothing like you had ever seen before! There were some couple all dresses ready to get married after they had picked up their licence.

The actual day was everything I had dreamt of.. Relaxing by the pool in the morning and then champagne while getting ready. Couple of disasters, my curling tongues didn’t work and I could not find my shoes anywhere..  (my mum had them!)

My dad walked the pair of us down the aisle together, the chapel looked amazing with all the beautiful flowers! Even the vicar was nervous because she had never performed a double wedding before.

The photographer took photos in the chapel..

and also in the beautiful gardens…

Here are my favourite things to do in Vegas..

Visit the hotel Bellagio to see the jumping fountains! This evening spectacular can be witnessed from the pavement every 15-30 minutes. The fountains perform to dramatic music and it really is not to be missed. The best thing is.. it’s free! You can just watch as you walk along the strip.

Another evening spectacular is at the hotel Treasure island which is also visual from the pavement and free for spectators. They put on an amazing pirate show four times every evening. You have to see it to believe it! Not to be missed..

Have a gamble! Caesar’s palace is the most famous casino and has the best atmosphere. I won on the slots lost on the tables! If you tire in the casino, the shops in Caesar’s palace are fantastic too!

Check out the old town. The famous golden nugget casino and Freemont Street is where the light show takes place every evening. The atmosphere is electric! There are plenty of bars to sit, drink and soak up the ambiance!

Like rollercoasters? There are plenty in Vegas. The hotel stratosphere is the probably the most visited due to the location on the top of the hotel.

New York New York was as daring as I got!

Take a trip to the Grand Canyon. The red rocky walls stretch 277 miles. Breath-taking does not even begin to describe it!

Have you been to Vegas? What did you think?

I am sure the strip will look very different now if I was to go back!

Did you get married somewhere exotic? I would love to hear your story.
