Tui set to launch river cruising brand

Beautiful city view of historic old town Cochem with the typical half-timbered colorful houses, hotels and restaurants, Reichsburg Imperial castle landmark on a mountain, Mittelmosel, Moselle river, Rhineland-Palatinate in sunny spring time Rheinland-Pfalz Deutschland, Europe

In 2 days time the brand new Tui River Cruise programme will go on sale.
It wasn’t something I expected Tui to be doing at least not yet anyway but I guess the popularity of their ocean brand Marella would encourage them to branch out further.
When talking to people about their cruising plans most people had either cruised or got a cruise booked with P&O but more often than not I am now hearing Marella ( or Thomson as they were previously known )
They are purchasing bigger and better ships so they are now able to compete with the larger lines in terms and entertainment and activities so making them even more family friendly.
However the positive comments I hear the most are that the crew are very friendly and attentive and the food is excellent. Also that they are very good value for money with good prices and all inclusive gratuities and on many cruises also drinks included.
I think this factor will make their new river cruise product very competitive. They have low lead in fares from just £1099.00pp which will include all service charges and gratuities in line with the ocean cruise brand.
They will have 3 ships with a capacity of 155 passengers sailing the Danube, Rhine,Main and Moselle for 7 nights. They will be adults only which is very rarely a problem and river cruising doesn’t attract families anyway. They will also give a shore excursion credit of £120.00pp to be used against a variety of tours.
River cruising can be quite expensive so I think with lower lead in prices Tui will be very popular. River cruising is such a different experience to ocean cruising. They are smaller more intimate ships and you get to know all the passengers and crew. The dock right in the heart of the places you are visiting and there is plenty of space to sit on deck and watch the beautiful scenery.
