Roaming Ruth's Travels

Independence of the Seas

I’m very excited to be off on board the newly refurbished Independence of the Seas next week.
I am heading off on a short 2 night cruise with a few colleagues to see how Britain’s favourite cruise ship has changed and to see the new features that have been recently added.
I have cruised on Independence before when it was first launched and loved it. This was my husbands first cruise and he has been hooked ever since.
I love the Royal Promenade with all its shops, bars and dining venues and at night it really comes alive with parades and entertainment it has a really buzzing atmosphere.

The restaurant is stunning and as I like my food I’m looking forward to seeing if the food is as good as I remember.
Royal Caribbean have won many awards for best family cruise line and I’m not surprised. No other cruise line offers the wide range of facilities and activities that they do and there is something for all age groups.
I have cruised with them many times before but never as a family so I will be interested to see what their new features are like. I know my kids would love them especially the trampoline experience and Sugar Beach.
Here is an idea of what they have added:
Skypad – An out of this world bungee trampoline experience
Waterslides – 2 new waterslides so you can race each other
Splashaway Bay – waterpark
Playmakers – Sports Bar & Arcade
Sugar Beach – Ice-cream and Candy
Fish & Ships – Grab this great British classic whilst enjoying the waterpark

I think I would never see my kids if I took them on this ship
These are just the new features so you still have the ice-rink to enjoy skating or watch the incredible ice shows, rock climbing, flow-rider, Johnny Rockets, Theatre Productions and a choice of speciality dining.
I can’t wait to see this for myself and will report back when I return and let you know my thoughts.
