Richard's Cruise Ramble

Just returned from a cruise… in the car

I have just returned from an amazing holiday.  This time I was the captain and we set off from home on a 2 week 3000 mile trip in my car to some lovely European destinations.

Here was our itinerary:-

Colmar – France

Interlaken – Switzerland

Lake Como – Italy

Lake Garda – Italy

Chioggia (South part of Venice – Italy

Rimini – Italy

Rome – Italy (2 nights)

Cecina – Italy

Portofino – Italy

Nice & Monte Carlo (2 nights)

Lyon – France

Troyes – France

Bruges – Belgium

Obviously travelling by car I had to try and plan a good mix of destinations vs travel time. Fortunately I don’t mind driving and as we avoided toll roads it meant that although journey times were often longer, it meant we took a lot more scenic and interesting routes. I particularly enjoyed driving over the Swiss Alps, the scenery is amazing. We did plenty of walking to explore the destinations once we arrived, some days walking over 10 miles. We didn’t have the luxuries of a cruise ship holiday but it was a great little adventure and we got to visit some beautiful destinations.

Here are some of the pictures (mostly selfies) I took whilst we were away so you can see some of the sights we experienced.
