Decided to give Thomson Cruises a try

I have working here at Cruise.co.uk for over 8 years now and during that time I have experienced many different cruise lines and ships but have never sailed with Thomson Cruises.

I have had generally good feedback from my clients about Thomson Cruises over the years and I believe they offer an good value product.

I have never been a big fan of the smaller, older style ships in general though personally and this is something that has previously made me wonder whether Thomson would suit my needs.

Thomson have now had some new ships the TUI Discovery and the TUI Discovery 2 join their fleet which were both formally Royal Caribbean Vision-Class ships. These new ships are not giants in cruise ship terms but come in at about 70000 tonnes so I would class these as mid-sized. These aren’t the newest ships either with the Discovery 2 formally being the Legend of the Seas and was launched in 1995, however I do know that Royal Caribbean keep their ships to a good standard and Thomson have of course spent a lot making their own mark on these ships before launch.

Thomson will be running these new ships as all-inclusive saying “So, drinks, including prosecco and cider, meals in a selection of restaurants and most onboard activities are included in the cruise price. Flights and tips are both part of the package, too.”

I will be sailing on the TUI Discovery 2 in June and I am looking forward to my first Thomson Cruise experience. I will of course be reporting on my findings backed up with lots of pictures on my return so if you are also interested in what Thomson have to offer on their new ships watch this space….
