My one day holiday on the Azura

Last month i had the pleasure of spending the day on board the Azura with P&O. I was really looking forward to this as it was different to a usual ship visit. Yes we were shown around the cabins and taken around the main parts of the ship. But rather than being kicked off so to speak after the tour we were given free time to explore the ship, have a drink and even use the pool or jacuzzi.

My first impression of the cabins were great. They felt roomy and bright, really good storage space and the bathrooms seemed a great size. We were shown a Suite, Balcony cabins, obstructed outsides and inside cabins.

Great thing about seeing the obstructed outsides was i could really get a clear idea of how the obstruction effected the cabin. Truth was not by much. You could get some natural light in still, you just had part of the light boat covering some of your window.

I loved sampling some of the food in the specialty dining rooms rather than just eating in the main restaurant. In the Epicurian Restaurant i got to see some typical dishes including afternoon tea. I also got to try a freshly made crepe. I’m not usually a crepe person but this one was gorgeous.

My favourite was the Sindhu restaurant. The food was amazing in this Asia Fusion Restaurant. I would strongly recommend booking in here as the cover charge is well worth it. Especially if you have some on board credit.

As it was embarkation day for many passenger i noticed many of the bars on board were advertising the drinks packages available on board. The Ultimate drinks package for adults works out at £39.95pp per day. The non Alcoholic package is £19.95pp per day. A child’s drinks package would be £7.95pp per day. Compared to some other cruise lines out there this one seems very reasonable. I also learnt that when an adult buys the Ultimate drinks package then the kids get the soft drinks package for free. Even if a single parent is travelling with two children.

And not everyone has to have the same package. Which is very unusual compared to other liners.

Many of my regulars enjoy the Azura and i can see why. She is a very clean ship, lots of deck space, amazing food and the staff seemed so friendly. It seemed very strange that the 2 main pool areas were next door to each other yet you couldn’t hear the busier pool side over the other. Even with the outdoor cinema screen.

She’s a wonderful ship and i am strongly considering sailing on board in the near future.
