Cookery Club

I absolutely love baking and something like this would really appeal to me. Trouble is i always want to try and make something different. For Christmas a few years ago i got a cook book off my in laws for Whoopie pie recipes. These are lovely if you have never tried one.

The recipe originated from America. They consist of 2 round mound – shaped pieces of cake with a cream or ganache filling in the middle. A popular choice that my family love me to make is oat and choc chip flavor with a butter cream filling.

Then again saying that i’m still open to baking traditional recipes.

I was lucky enough to spend a day on board the Britannia back in March 2013 and i was really keen to get a look at the Cookery Club. It’s a unique innovation for P&O operating under the guidance of the likes of James Martin and his celebrity chef friends. All guests are welcome to take part in the Cookery Club no matter what level experience they are at. The classes start from £45. The Food Heroes and James’ Celebrity Friends master classes start from £100. Expect James Martin deserts, Atul Kochar Indian favorites and pastry and puddings by Eric Lanlard. These classes are roughly 2 hours long. At the end of the classes you can enjoy you cooking around the Chefs’ table. Classes tend to run during the daytime however on certain cruises evening classes are also available. Classes are available to book through the cruise personaliser 120 days before departure.

Children’s classes are running during the school holiday cruises and form part of the Reef activities.  The booking is made through the team at Reef once on board. Family classes are designed for parents to cook alongside their children aged between 8 and 17. Each adult booked under the family class can bring one or two of their children at no extra cost.

P&O have always catered really well for dietary needs and the same applies for the cooking classes. They do their best to supply substitute ingredients where ever possible.

Here’s a few examples of the types of classes they have held –

Macaroons

Dim Sum

Mary Berry

Antonio Carluccio

Modern Gastro-Pub

Chocolate

Bread Making and more….

Normally i would agree with not cooking when i’m on holiday but this is something i would look for or like to take part in if i was to go back on the Britannia for my holiday. Especially on a sea day. Have any of you done any of these classes and would you recommend them. Let me know in the comments.
